In Episode 12 of the Adnams Podcast, Alastair Marshall and Rob Chase meet over lunch at The Crown Hotel to discuss the latest arrivals to the Wine Buyers office.

The first wine to be opened is a Sauvignon Blanc by winemaker Kate Radburnd, who is also co-owner and Managing Director of C J Pask wines based in Hawkes Bay on New Zealand's North Island. However, she produced this wine in Marlborough on the South Island - home to the world famous NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Alastair and Rob were pleasantly surprised by this wine, which which belies it's Marlborough origins by displaying the rounded flavours and aromas more expected from a Hawkes Bay Sauvignon Blanc.

The second wine is a 2008 Domaine Road Pinot Noir from Otago, also on New Zealand's South Island. Alastair and Rob found it to be an excellent example of its type and Rob goes on to hypothesize that Syrah will be the next big thing to come out of New Zealand.

The final wine to be tasted is 2010 Ventoux by Etienne Gonnet which is very pleasing to self-confessed "Grenache-Geeks" Alastair and Rob! They agree that Ventoux is certainly an area to be explored for it's vinous offerings as well as for it's more famous and gruelling Tour de France stage!

In Episode 11 of the Adnams Podcast Alastair Marshall and Rob Chase meet over lunch at The Crown Hotel in Southwold to discuss the merits of the wines available from the less familiar villages of the Burgundy region.

Burgundy is the home of world famous village wines such as Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault which have a price tag to match their notoriety, but Alastair and Rob firmly believe that good quality wines at an affordable price are being produced by highly-skilled winemakers in the lesser known areas of Burgundy.

In this podcast they taste four wines from the 2010 vintage produced by J P Auvigue and Domaine De Gandines, two producers who take great care in their winemaking practices, from hand-harvest their grapes to taking an organic approach in the vineyards.

If you want to experience great wines from Burgundy but without the hefty price-tag, why not try our Affordable Burgundy Case. Read more about this case here.

In Episode 10 of the Adnams Podcast, Alastair Marshall and Rob Chase reminisce about their time spent at Shawsgate Vineyard in Suffolk during the 1970's over lunch in the bustling Crown Hotel in Southwold.

They taste the latest vintage of Shawgate's signature white wine, made with the Bacchus grape, and discuss the past and future of english winemaking and it's parallels with the changes seen recently in the winemakers of the Languedoc region.

Alastair and Rob discuss the merits of two of their favourite reds from the Languedoc before opening a bottle of cask-drawn 2003 Mas de Daumas Gassac that Alastair was previously using as a paperweight!

The Languedoc wines tasted in this podcast are available from adnams.co.uk.
They are:
2010 Bio, Piccinini, Vin de Pays d'Oc (Quote reference SZ71)
2009 Pinot Noir, Domaine de la Grange, Vin de Pays d'Oc (Quote reference SZ61)
